Another year another playlist. I'll populate these lists with links, videos and where possible downloads as I go along but for now here's 2007's playlist.

4. Happy Christmas War Is Over – Boy George & Anthony (from Anthony and the Johnsons)
This featured on a charity album for the fabulous Warchild charity. In truth it's an obvious pairing distinctive, they could quite happily have gone on to do more than this one song. They keep the production classic, but then their voices are distinctive enough.
7. Oi! to the World – No Doubt
No Doubt were once a fully respectable ska band and they show it here covering the vandals punk classic. Now if only No Doubt would make more music like this and less of the dreary pop rubbish.

2. Christmas Solo – Holly Golightly
Over the years and repeated listens many of these songs lose their allure but this song by Xmassongblog's favourite 50s revivalist stands the testof all these years. Notable for the classic sweary final line of the final chorus.

Ok so we have pretty much the whole North East indie music scene at the time (2005) playing on this one. Joseph and the Mary Chain since you didn't ask are J Xaverre, This Ain't Vegas, The Golden Virgins, and John Egdell. It a happy pretty straightforward run through the Christmas tradition. Nothing fancy and all the better for it.

6. Everyday is Christmas with You – Beth Ditto
When this was first out it was literally the coolest thing to ever happen, it still holds up as a decent tune. A slow jam with a driving baseline that'll nag away til new years.
